Quick take
Size 5/0 black nickel baitholder hooks with dual barbs on the shank that lock worms and cut bait in place.
This is a 70-piece pack of size 5/0 baitholder hooks in a red finish, made from high-carbon steel. The shank carries two small barbs that help keep soft or live bait from sliding down, and the offset point and down eye suit snelled rigs. It fits anglers fishing live bait or soft baits for bass, flounder and similar species in fresh or salt water.
Best for
- Live worms under a float
- Cut bait on the bottom
- General freshwater and saltwater bait fishing
Skip if
- You use catch-and-release; circle hooks are easier to back out
- You fish soft plastics; use an offset worm hook
Strengths
- V-bend design directs force to the hook point
- Dual barbs hold bait firmly through the cast
- Black nickel resists corrosion in saltwater
Trade-offs
- Barbs on the shank make the hook harder to remove from a deeply hooked fish
- Size 5/0 is large for small panfish
- Black finish requires rinsing after saltwater use
