Quick take
Soft vinyl octopus skirts with molded eyes in multiple colors, built for trolling and jigging in saltwater.
These 10 green vinyl octopus skirts make up a trolling set with a soft body that attaches to a hook easily. Walleye and trout anglers can fish them in either fresh or salt water.
Best for
- Trolling for salmon and steelhead
- Rigging on a jighead for walleye and trout
- Saltwater and offshore situations
Skip if
- You need a single heavy lure for casting
- You prefer hard baits or crankbaits
Strengths
- Soft body moves naturally on the troll
- Molded eyes add realism and visibility
- Works in both fresh and saltwater
Trade-offs
- Soft vinyl gets damaged by toothy fish and by repeated rigging
- Needs a jighead or hook rigging; not a complete lure
- Works best on slow retrieves and trolls

About this type
A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.
Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
