Quick take

Trolling dodger with flexible action and side planer function for spreading lines while trolling.

The Mack's Lure Double D Dodger in Copper UV measures 4.4 inches and has five attachment points along its top, each one changing how far the dodger swings from the boat. Its back-and-forth zigzag action works as a side planer near the surface and helps keep several lines apart when trolling. It suits anglers who want to spread their lines and vary how far each one runs from the boat.

Best for

  • Trolling salmon and steelhead in lakes and rivers
  • Spreading multiple lines from one trolling rod
  • Anglers wanting to adjust dodger action on the fly

Skip if

  • You fish casting or other active techniques
  • You troll open water without needing side-planing action

Strengths

  • Flexible design allows tuning action from subtle to aggressive
  • Five attachment points give rigging flexibility
  • Can double as a side planer to spread lines wider

Trade-offs

  • Designed only for trolling; no other fishing methods
  • Needs lure behind it to be effective

About this type

A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.

Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.

Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
