Quick take
A blue nylon drop net with a simple ball frame, sized for landing medium to large fish.
The Major Craft Hexanet MCHN-1 is a one-piece landing net with a six-sided frame that opens wide for scooping a fish. This large blue version measures about 26.4 by 22.8 inches and has a simple, portable build with a nylon net. It suits anglers who want an uncomplicated net that carries easily to the water.
Best for
- Bank and pier fishing where you can hold the frame above the water
- Saltwater and freshwater scenarios
- Anglers who want a lightweight, portable net
Skip if
- You need a net with a handle; this is a frame only
- You fish moving water or fast currents; a drop net requires calm water and downward pressure
Strengths
- The large 26-inch width accommodates bigger fish than smaller nets
- Simple drop net design is faster to deploy than framed nets with handles
- The lightweight nylon mesh and blue color reduce spooking
Trade-offs
- This is a frame and mesh only, not a complete net assembly
- A drop net requires both hands to operate: one to hold the frame, one to guide the fish
- The large opening is unwieldy in tight spaces or on small boats
