Quick take

A 5.1-inch floating pencil bait designed for saltwater game fish like tuna and skipjack, with light casting weight and extended range.

This 5.1-inch floating pencil bait weighs about 1.1 ounces and is made for offshore anglers after tuna and other blue-water species. Its slim metal body and floating profile suit anglers working bait near the surface. The Chamura Slit Glow finish gives a flashy option for bright, open-water days.

Best for

  • Casting to tuna and skipjack with light tackle
  • Anglers seeking a small, finesse pencil presentation

Skip if

  • You fish heavy cover or need sinking action
  • You cast heavy lures; at 1.1 oz this is light

Strengths

  • Floating design allows varied retrieve depths and waking action
  • Light 1.1 oz weight allows casting on light tackle
  • Chamura Slit Glow finish attracts saltwater game fish

Trade-offs

  • Floating pencils require active rod work to maintain depth and action
  • At 1.1 oz, maximum casting distance is limited compared to heavier pencils
  • Pencil design demands proper technique; poor rod control loses the action
