Quick take
1/4 oz round jig heads with a locking pin on the shank that pairs with soft plastics for saltwater and freshwater jigging.
At 1/4 oz, this Matrix Shad GoldenEye jig head pairs a gold 3/0 hook with a gold prismatic eye for anglers rigging soft plastics on flats and inshore water. It takes worms, flukes and swim baits, and targets bass, trout, redfish, crappie and flounder. The head suits grass flats in about 2 to 6 feet of water, and a locking pin on the shank helps hold the plastic in place.
Best for
- Rigging soft plastic worms and flukes for inshore fish
- Saltwater jigging for redfish, trout, and flounder
- Freshwater jigging for bass and crappie
Skip if
- You need heavier heads for deep water
- You plan to fish weightless presentations
Strengths
- Locking pin prevents soft plastic slippage during casts and fights
- Silver eye attracts strikes in clear water
- 3/0 hook suits medium soft plastics
Trade-offs
- 1/4 oz limits use to shallow and moderate depths
- Locking pin makes plastic difficult to remove
- Not ideal for ultra-light finesse presentations
