Quick take

A lime green floating shooting line with braided core and welded loop, sized for Skagit heads 450-575 grams.

A floating running line for Skagit shooting heads, this lime green 0.026-inch model has a braided core with a PVC coating. Its front welded loop makes it quick to connect, and its 15-pound core suits heads between 200 and 450 grains. The braided core keeps stretch and memory low, which helps hook-up on the shooting line.

Best for

  • Spey and Skagit-style fly fishing with shooting heads
  • Anglers who fish double-handed fly rods and switch rods
  • Long-distance fly casting requiring thin running line

Skip if

  • You use traditional single-hand fly rods and integrated lines
  • You need a sinking shooting line for subsurface fishing

Strengths

  • PVC coating ensures flotation and durability in any weather
  • Braided core has low memory and minimal stretch for better hook-ups
  • Welded loop connects quickly to shooting heads
  • Lime green color is visible in low light

Trade-offs

  • Requires compatible Skagit shooting heads to function
  • Thin diameter can be difficult to see and manage on the water
  • More specialized than traditional fly lines
