Quick take
Four spools of fluorocarbon tippet in fine sizes with a holder and colored spools for quick access.
This fluorocarbon tippet kit gives fly anglers 3X through 6X line on 55-yard spools, with a tippet holder and four spool tenders in different colors to keep the sizes apart. Made from 100% fluorocarbon, the line has low visibility and sinks faster, which helps nymphs and droppers reach depth sooner.
Best for
- Spring creek and clear water trout fishing
- Nymph and small dry fly presentations
- When drifting needs to be natural and drag-free
Skip if
- You fish streamers and heavy flies; use a stiffer leader
- You prefer monofilament tippet
Strengths
- Fluorocarbon is less visible than mono in clear water
- Fine taper from 3X to 6X covers most dry fly scenarios
- Faster sinking than mono suits nymph fishing
- Tippet holder and tender spools keep materials organized
Trade-offs
- Fluorocarbon is stiffer and harder to knot than mono
- No coil memory can form despite the tender spools
- Fine sizes 5X and 6X are fragile on large fish or rocks
