Quick take

A 27 yard spool of 20 lb Chameleon leader that changes color to match water conditions.

This Maxima Chameleon leader wheel holds 27 yards of 20 lb monofilament in a single-strand spool. The line is a color-shifting Chameleon shade meant to blend into the water around it. It suits anglers who want a heavier leader for steelhead, salmon or similar tougher fishing, and the compact wheel is easy to keep in a tackle bag.

Best for

  • Salmon and steelhead in rivers
  • Bass fishing with fly rods
  • Clear water where leader visibility matters

Skip if

  • You need lighter leaders for trout
  • You prefer constant visibility of your leader

Strengths

  • Chameleon formula changes color to match water
  • Outstanding abrasion resistance
  • Trusted by anglers in harsh conditions

Trade-offs

  • 20 lb strength may be too heavy for delicate presentations
  • Monofilament has more stretch than other types
  • 27 yards is limited for multiple leaders
