Quick take

Compact, waterproof tackle box for storing small items and terminal tackle.

The Meiho VS-420 is a pocket-sized hard case measuring about 4.5 by 2.9 inches and under an inch thick. It has three compartments with their own hinged lids and a latch to hold it shut, which suits small hooks, weights and terminal tackle. A removable middle tray and stackable design let it grow into a modular system with other Meiho cases.

Best for

  • Backpack fishing and traveling light
  • Boat storage under tight spaces
  • Keeping small hard baits and terminal tackle dry

Skip if

  • Storing large rod and reel combos
  • Needing compartments for multiple lure types

Strengths

  • Splash-proof design keeps contents dry during water contact
  • Removable middle tray adapts to different storage needs
  • Small size fits easily in boats, packs, and vehicle storage

Trade-offs

  • Limited capacity for extended trips or varied tackle
  • Single compartment requires manual organization
  • Not fully waterproof; extended submersion may leak
