Quick take

A large hard tackle box with lift-up system that lets you access lower tackle without removing the middle plate.

The Meiho VS-7090N is a hard bucket-mouth style tackle box measuring 17.3 x 11.6 x 11.6 inches, the same footprint as the BM-5000. Its handle locks upright for carrying, and a lift-up system lets you reach the lower tackle without taking the middle plate out. It suits anglers who rig on the go in tight spaces, such as boat decks or shore spots.

Best for

  • Anglers with larger tackle collections
  • Organized storage of mixed lures and tackle
  • Fishing from a boat or shore

Skip if

  • You need a compact portable box
  • You fish from a kayak or small craft

Strengths

  • Lift-up system speeds rigging changes without removing middle plate
  • Large size holds substantial tackle inventory
  • Water-resistant construction

Trade-offs

  • At 17.3 inches wide and 5.79 pounds, it is heavy to carry long distances
  • Large footprint requires boat or vehicle storage
  • Middle plate setup takes time to configure initially
