Quick take
A classic size 3 spinner with a spinning blade and treble hook for trout and panfish.
The size 2 Mepps Aglia in silver, red and white is a small bladed spinner for anglers after panfish and trout. Its compact size fits light spinning gear on streams, ponds and small lakes. Its plain treble hook is one of the two rigging options this plain model comes with.
Best for
- Small streams and creeks
- Panfish in shallow water
- Finesse fishing in clear water
Skip if
- You need a heavier spinner for distance casting in wind
- You fish heavy cover that snags treble hooks
Strengths
- Light and small enough for ultralight line and sensitive presentations
- Treble hook coverage hooks fish across multiple strike angles
Trade-offs
- Treble hooks snag easily in vegetation and wood
- Size 3 is limited to small fish species
- In-line spinners generate line twist; a swivel helps

About this type
A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.
Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
