Quick take
Three-layer foldable mesh basket for keeping live fish, bait, and crustaceans in the water while fishing.
This collapsible nylon mesh basket keeps live fish, minnows or other bait in the water until you are ready for them. Four spring wire frames split the net into three layers, so it folds down flat to carry, and a drawstring at the mouth closes it. It suits shore and boat anglers who want a light, packable keep net.
Best for
- Keeping live fish fresh through the end of a fishing day
- Storing live bait during extended fishing trips
- Keeping caught fish alive for release or later processing
Skip if
- You plan to keep fish on ice in a cooler
- You practice catch-and-release with minimal handling
Strengths
- Folds into compact size for easy transport and storage
- Mesh allows water flow to keep fish alive and fresh
- Drawstring opening prevents fish escape and keeps out debris
Trade-offs
- Mesh can snag on debris, tree limbs, and bottom structure
- Requires water submersion to function; useless on shore
- Fish waste clouds water inside the basket over time

- Freshwater
- Saltwater
- Techniques
