Quick take
Size 2 bronze double hooks with safety pin, used for live bait and cut bait in both fresh and saltwater.
The Mustad Double Live is a bronze double hook in size 2, made for rigging live bait, liver or shrimp. Its 1X long shank holds the bait, and a built-in safety pin keeps it in place. Its needle point and double eye suit anglers fishing saltwater or freshwater for bass, walleye or catfish.
Best for
- Worms and shiners under a bobber
- Cut bait for catfish in rivers
- General bait fishing for small to medium fish
Skip if
- You fish mostly plastics; these are for live bait only
- You release most fish; double hooks foul-hook more often
Strengths
- Double hook design increases hook probability
- Safety pin keeps the two hooks aligned
- Bronze finish is traditional and visible to fish on bottom
Trade-offs
- Bronze finish rusts quickly; needs freshwater rinse after saltwater
- Double hooks foul-hook small fish more readily than single hooks
- Size 2 is on the small side for catfish or large saltwater species
