Quick take
4X strong offset circle hooks in size 4/0 for big fish and live or cut bait rigging.
This is a Mustad Ringed Demon offset circle hook in size 4/0, sold in a pack of six with a black nickel finish. A welded ring at the eye ties the line on and lets a live bait move freely. The kirbed point and 4X strong wire suit anglers fishing live bait for larger fish who want the hook to set in the corner of the mouth.
Best for
- Live-bait fishing for large catfish and stripers
- Bottom rigging with cut herring or bunker
- Situations where hook-ups should not be forced
Skip if
- You catch mostly small fish; use smaller hooks
- You fish soft plastics; circle hooks foul plastic baits
Strengths
- Offset point hooks on contact without hard setting
- Black nickel resists corrosion better than bare steel
Trade-offs
- Circle hooks fail to hook on slack line presentations
- 4/0 is large and intimidates some fish species
- Offset angle can twist on certain rig types
Fishing fit
- Water
- Saltwater
- Freshwater
- Techniques
- Live bait
- Bottom fishing
