Quick take

Size 4/0 octopus hooks with ultra-sharp needle points and reversed bends for saltwater bait fishing.

Mustad's 92604NP is a beak-style octopus hook in size 4/0, with an up-turned ringed eye for snell knots, a reversed point and a needle point. It measures 33 mm long with an 18.5 mm gap, and its black nickel finish is coated for corrosion resistance. Anglers rigging natural bait for bass and panfish can pick it up in packs of 8, 10 or 25.

Best for

  • Saltwater live-bait rigs for grouper, snapper, and bottom species
  • Bait presentations in deeper water or around structure
  • Anglers who want a sharp point that stays sharp

Skip if

  • You need a circle hook for catch-and-release; octopus hooks set deeper
  • You fish freshwater; size 4/0 is too large for most freshwater fish

Strengths

  • UltraPoint technology means a needle-sharp point that resists rolling
  • Nor-Tempered process makes hooks up to 20% stronger than standard
  • 1X fine wire means less material, easier to drive through a bait

Trade-offs

  • Fine wire breaks easier on very large fish
  • Reversed bend limits positioning of bait on the hook
  • Size 4/0 requires heavy line; not ideal for light-line presentations
