Quick take
A 7-pack of size 1 live bait hooks with welded action rings, 3X strong wire, and black nickel finish for saltwater gamefish.
This ringed live bait hook has a welded action ring that gives a live bait room to move, and its 3X extra heavy wire is built for larger species such as grouper, snapper and tuna. The straight shank and bent-in needle point suit the hook's intended use, and the black nickel finish is rated at four times the rust resistance of standard black nickel. It is a size 1 hook sold in a pack of seven for anglers rigging live bait for bigger game fish.
Best for
- Live bait rigging for wahoo, tuna, and grouper
- Saltwater trolling with live or dead bait
- Large offshore species that require strong hooks
Skip if
- You fish freshwater panfish or small saltwater species
- You prefer circle hooks for safer catch-and-release
Strengths
- 3X strong wire resists bending on large ocean fish
- Welded action ring allows live bait freedom of movement
- Black nickel finish is 4 times more rust resistant than standard
Trade-offs
- Heavy wire is overkill for small or freshwater fish
- Size 1 hook is too large for most panfish applications
- Welded ring adds weight and may spook cautious bait
