Quick take
A 25-pack of size 2 bronze Aberdeen hooks with special kinked shanks for slow-trolling worms and natural baits.
The Mustad Slow Death Aberdeen hook in size 2 is made for live bait, with a kinked shank that makes a half nightcrawler spin when trolled slowly behind a bottom bouncer. Its needle point and ringed eye suit anglers after walleye, bass, crappie, perch and panfish. The bronze finish comes in a 25-pack, which suits anglers who want to rig slow presentations for cracks and corners.
Best for
- Trolling half a nightcrawler on a bottom-bouncer rig
- Walleye and crappie on live-bait slow presentations
- Bait that requires a snelling knot
Skip if
- Fishing artificial lures where a straight shank works better
- Saltwater where bronze hooks rust quickly
Strengths
- Kinked shank creates a unique corkscrew motion when trolled slowly
- Size 2 accommodates half a nightcrawler without sliding
- Ringed eye allows secure knots without an eye keeper
Trade-offs
- Bronze finish rusts quickly in saltwater or humid storage
- The kinked shank makes this hook less versatile than a straight Aberdeen
- Small size limits use with larger live baits
