Quick take
Weighted Texas rig hooks with wide gap design allowing separate weight positioning for natural bait action.
This is an assorted 15-pack of weighted Texas rig hooks with an extra-wide-gap (EWG) hook and a spear point. The weight sits apart from the hook, which leaves a soft plastic worm or swimbait free to move. It suits bass anglers working casting or spinning gear around grass and cover, and the same setup works for trout, catfish, pike and perch.
Best for
- Texas rig presentations with plastic worms and soft plastics
- Flipping and pitching into heavy cover and vegetation
- Bass and pike fishing in weeds and wood
Skip if
- You prefer fixed-weight single-piece rigs
- You fish open water where weight separation adds no benefit
Strengths
- EWG wide gap provides solid hook set on hard strikes
- Separated weight and hook allows the lure to fall naturally
- Weedless design minimizes snagging on aquatic vegetation
Trade-offs
- Separated weight design can snag on structure and rocks
- Not ideal for long casting compared to traditional fixed-weight rigs
- Requires rigging skill to achieve optimal presentation and balance
