Quick take
A 6'6" heavy jigging rod with e-glass blank for deep offshore jigging on heavy line and metal.
This is a one-piece, 6.5-foot heavy-power conventional jigging rod with a fast-action E-glass blank. The glass blank gives some give when paired with braided line, and the Alps reel seat and zirconium-insert guides suit heavy saltwater jigging. It fits anglers chasing big offshore fish like tuna or halibut who want a casting-style jigging stick.
Best for
- Deep offshore jigging for tuna, halibut and grouper
- Vertical jigging techniques with large metal jigs
- Experienced saltwater anglers on charter and private boats
Skip if
- You fish light offshore species; heavy power is excessive
- You jig inshore; this rod is specialized for deep water
Strengths
- E-glass absorbs shock from braided line at depth
- Pyramid reel seat design provides ergonomic control
- Heavy power pairs with high-rise stainless guides for friction reduction
Trade-offs
- Heavy power makes light presentations impossible
- E-glass construction makes the rod heavy compared to graphite
- Deep offshore jigging requires specialized tackle knowledge
