Quick take

Stainless steel pliers for saltwater and freshwater fishing, with built-in cutter and fish gripper.

These OUFAN pliers pair 420 stainless steel with a coating meant for freshwater and saltwater trips. They combine a hook remover, line cutter and split ring tool in a body about 7 inches long that weighs 140 grams. A coiled lanyard and a molded sheath with a belt clip keep them within reach for wading, surf or bank fishing.

Best for

  • Removing hooks from fish of any size
  • Cutting braided and monofilament line
  • Wading and bank fishing

Skip if

  • You need pliers for heavy trolling
  • You prefer minimalist gear

Strengths

  • Coated stainless steel resists saltwater corrosion
  • Multiple functions in one tool reduce what you need to carry
  • Spring-loaded handle and anti-slip grips for secure handling

Trade-offs

  • At 140g, heavier than some single-function pliers
  • Multi-purpose design means no function is optimized for specialists
  • Built-in cutter is adequate but not as powerful as dedicated line shears

  • Freshwater
  • Saltwater
