Quick take

A size 6 gun black triple stinger hook for adding a trailer hook to soft baits and swimbaits.

This Owner ST-36BC is a size 6 stinger treble with a gun black coat. It has a fine-wire, short shank and three straight needle points on round bends, a layout anglers often fit to crankbaits when swapping out stock hooks. It suits bass and trout fishing.

Best for

  • Rigging soft plastics with a backup hook
  • Trout and bass fishing with swimbaits
  • Increasing hookup rates on short strikers

Skip if

  • You want a single hook; a stinger adds complexity
  • You fish heavy vegetation; the extra hook catches weeds more easily

Strengths

  • A stinger hook catches short strikers that miss the main lure hook
  • The small size 6 suits lightweight soft plastics
  • Gun black coating resists corrosion

Trade-offs

  • A triple stinger tangles more easily in tackle and cover
  • The small size limits use to light soft baits
  • Rigging a stinger adds time and complexity
