Quick take
Lightweight aluminum pliers with stainless steel jaw inserts for removing hooks and tying leaders.
The Owner GP2-60 is a big-game split ring plier with a lightweight aluminum alloy body that weighs about 130 g. It handles split rings in sizes 7 through 11, so it suits heavier plugs and saltwater lures. The jaws also cut braided line and crimp sleeves, which makes it a one-tool option for swapping hooks and rigging leaders.
Best for
- Removing large hooks from fish mouths
- Tying and trimming leader lines
- Handling split rings and connectors
Skip if
- You need heavy-duty wire cutting on heavy braids
- You fish only small freshwater fish
Strengths
- High-strength aluminum keeps weight low
- Split-ring opener smooths linkage
- Stainless jaw inserts resist corrosion
Trade-offs
- Aluminum body can flex under extreme pressure
- Thicker stiffness means edges can chip
- Not designed for cutting heavy monofilament
Fishing fit
- Water
- Freshwater
- Saltwater
