Quick take
Size 8 light circle hooks in black chrome for saltwater live bait fishing.
The Owner Mutu Light Circle Hook is a black chrome circle hook made from high carbon steel, with a hangnail point. This size 8 pack holds 11 hooks, a handy count for anglers who rig often. Circle hooks suit trolling and bait fishing in saltwater, where the hook tends to set in the corner of the fish's mouth.
Best for
- Live mackerel or herring on bottom rigs in salt water
- Pier and boat fishing where hands-free hookup is preferred
- Trolling live bait behind a drifting boat
Skip if
- You fish small panfish; hooks are too large
- You need heavier hooks; light construction flexes easily
Strengths
- Light construction reduces feel of hook weight on live bait
- Circle point hooks fish on its own without aggressive setting
- Size 8 balances bite rate and hold strength
Trade-offs
- Light gauge bends under heavy fish pressure
- Black chrome finish can dull after saltwater session
- Hangnail point is slower to penetrate than J-hook

- Saltwater

- Live bait
- Bottom fishing
