Quick take
Herring-scented gel attractant that applies to bait and lures for freshwater and saltwater fishing.
Pautzke Fire Gel in Herring is a scent gel that you apply directly to bait, lures, flies or other tackle. It comes in a 1.65 oz jar that fits easily in a tackle box. Anglers working spinning or casting setups can use it to add a herring scent to what they are already throwing.
Best for
- Bottom fishing where scent dispersal matters
- Live bait rigging when you want scent enhancement
- Saltwater fishing to attract feeding fish
Skip if
- You prefer liquid attractants over gel
- You fish only clear water where scent matters less
Strengths
- Gel formula stays on bait longer than liquid
- Herring scent attracts many saltwater and freshwater species
- Easy precise application with gel consistency
Trade-offs
- Gel may reduce bait action if applied heavily
- One 1.75 oz bottle covers limited sessions
- Strong scent can be off-putting in clear water
