Quick take
Mid-arbor fly reel with smooth adjustable disc drag and hard-anodized corrosion resistance for freshwater and saltwater fly fishing.
This 5/6 weight fly reel is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum with a mid-arbor spool that cuts line memory and speeds up line pickup. It comes pre-spooled with backing, a tapered fly line and a leader, so it is ready to fish out of the box. A multi-disc carbon and stainless drag handles light tippet, and the retrieve ships set for the left hand and can be switched to the right.
Best for
- Trout fly fishing on lakes and rivers
- Saltwater flats and reef fly fishing for bonefish or redfish
- Larger streamers and two-handed fly setups
Skip if
- You need ultra-lightweight reel for small creeks and tiny flies
- You fish exclusively saltwater and need maximum corrosion protection
Strengths
- Mid-arbor design reduces line memory and increases retrieval speed
- Hard-anodized finish resists corrosion in saltwater environments
- Smooth disc drag with one-way clutch and silent retrieve
Trade-offs
- Mid-arbor holds less backing than large arbor in same reel size
- Fully sealed design makes field cleaning more involved if salt caked
