Quick take
A durable waterproof tackle box with adjustable compartments and a tight O-ring seal.
The Plano 3640 Waterproof StowAway is a shallow clear-plastic utility box for keeping small tackle sorted. Its removable dividers let you set up between 5 and 20 compartments for hooks, jigs, swivels and small lures. A Dri-Loc O-ring and three cam-action latches keep the lid sealed against moisture, and the flat profile slips easily into a tackle bag or boat compartment.
Best for
- Organizing soft plastics and terminal tackle
- Saltwater fishing trips
- Protecting gear from moisture and sand
Skip if
- You need a compact portable box for backpacking
- You prefer soft-sided bags
Strengths
- Tight-sealing O-ring keeps contents dry in damp conditions
- Adjustable dividers let you configure compartments for your gear
- Clear polypropylene body shows contents at a glance
Trade-offs
- Rigid plastic is heavier than soft bags
- Fixed overall size cannot expand if you need more room
- Compartments are shallow, limiting the size of items you can store
