Quick take

Wooden-frame fly net with clear rubber mesh and magnetic quick-release carabiner for catch-and-release fishing.

A wooden-handled landing net with a soft rubber mesh, made for gently handling trout and bass you plan to release. It comes with a magnetic release and a coiled lanyard, so the net rides on your back or belt and leaves your hands free while you wade or fish from a kayak. The compact, straight-handle shape suits streams, rivers and lakes for fly anglers.

Best for

Wading streams and rivers for trout
Fly fishing in freshwater and saltwater
Anglers who want a traditional net feel

Skip if

You fish from a boat only; wood handles absorb water weight
You need ultralight equipment; wood is heavier than aluminum

Strengths

Camphor wood is naturally rot-resistant and comfortable to hold
Clear rubber mesh does not snag tippet or damage fish
Magnetic release clip keeps the net attached without tangling

Trade-offs

Wood handle absorbs water and becomes heavy when wet
Harder to dry than modern materials; mildew can develop
Hoop is asymmetrical; net handling requires practice

Fishing fit

Species: Trout
Bass
Water: Freshwater
Saltwater
Techniques: Fly fishing
