Quick take

A 15 lb braided line on a 500 yard spool with a thin diameter that slices through guides.

Power Pro's 15 lb braid comes on a 500-yard spool in yellow, a bright shade that is easy to follow in the water. Its four-strand construction of Spectra fiber suits anglers who fish lures, jigs and bait on a braided line. It is a practical pick for spinning and baitcasting reels, from first casts to seasoned bass and walleye fishing.

Best for

  • Bass fishing in heavy weeds with a swivel
  • Saltwater flats where zero-stretch line helps you set the hook fast
  • Anglers who use power techniques and need thin diameter

Skip if

  • You fish open water and prefer low visibility
  • You are new to braided line and unsure how to spool it

Strengths

  • Thin diameter on 15 lb test allows more line on smaller spools
  • Yellow color makes the line easy to see during the cast
  • Zero stretch means instant hook sets without line stretch delay

Trade-offs

  • Braided line frays at the knot and requires a backing or tag knot
  • Yellow visibility can spook fish in very clear water
  • Braided line requires a guide that is designed for braid
