Quick take
A D-shaped nylon bait net with a 20-inch handle for scooping bait and lightweight fish from a boat.
This bait well net pairs an 8-inch by 9-inch hoop with a 20-inch handle, sized for scooping minnows and shiners out of a boat's livewell. A plastic-wrapped D-shaped frame keeps the nylon mesh off the tank walls, and the PVC handle floats with EVA foam for grip. At about 6.4 ounces it is a light, simple net for anglers who fish live bait.
Best for
- Grabbing live bait from a bait tank or bucket
- Landing small fish in a livewell or cooler
- Boat fishing where quick access to bait matters
Skip if
- You need a net for large fish or heavy loads
- You plan to carry a net while wading
Strengths
- D-shaped frame and plastic wrap prevent the netting from snagging on boat edges
- PVC handles with EVA foam resist rot and provide grip even when wet
- Lightweight and compact for easy storage on a boat
Trade-offs
- Small hoop limits the size of fish that can be netted
- Nylon mesh snags on rough surfaces and requires rinsing
- D-shape can bend and lose form if stored under pressure
Fishing fit
- Water
- Freshwater
- Saltwater
