Quick take

Twenty-four-inch bait well net with 7x8-inch scoop for handling live bait in buckets and wells.

The Promar LN-401 is a small bait well net for lifting minnows and other live bait out of a livewell or bucket. It has a 7 by 8 inch nylon mesh scoop on a 24 inch wood handle, so it reaches into a deep well without much effort. At roughly 5 ounces, it is an easy add to a tackle bag for shore, boat or dock fishing.

Best for

  • Moving live minnows and shiners between containers
  • Netting crayfish and small baitfish from shallow water
  • Live-well management on boats without disturbing other fish

Skip if

  • You need a larger net for seine fishing
  • You handle saltwater shrimp and need fine mesh

Strengths

  • Lightweight wood handle floats if dropped
  • Ace nylon mesh is gentle on live bait
  • Compact 24-inch size fits any tackle box or boat

Trade-offs

  • Small 7x8-inch scoop limits bait transfer speed
  • Wood handle can swell and warp in wet storage
  • Not suitable for seine or cast-net fishing
