Quick take
A large foldable drop net with fine rubber mesh, designed for lowering from piers or docks to trap small baitfish.
This foldable drop net has a rubber-coated mesh and a hoop about 40 inches across, with a 15-meter rope for lowering it from a pier or bridge. The fine 0.3-inch mesh holds minnows, crawfish and shrimp, and it folds flat into a carry bag for the walk to the water. It suits pier and dock anglers who want to haul up bait or a catch from well above the surface.
Best for
- Pier and dock fishing for minnows and crawfish
- Live bait collection from lakes and slow rivers
- Anglers who fish from fixed positions
Skip if
- You need to land a hooked game fish
- You fish from a moving boat
Strengths
- Rubber mesh is 4 to 5 times stronger than nylon and fish-friendly
- Folds compact for easy transport and storage
- Fine mesh catches even small minnows and crawfish
Trade-offs
- At 2 lb empty, the wet net is heavy to lift repeatedly
- The rigid hoop can snap under pressure if closed too quickly
- Large size requires a strong rope and good clearance below the pier

- Water
- Freshwater
- Techniques
- Bottom fishing
