Quick take

Split-tail soft jerkbait with realistic scale detail and flash foil belly, riggable as Texas rig or drop-shot setup.

A 4.72-inch soft shad swimbait with a split tail and a realistic scale and gill pattern. It fits a jighead or a wide-gap hook on a Texas, Carolina or drop-shot rig. Anglers after bass, trout, crappie and panfish get a larger baitfish profile than the smaller sizes in the line.

Best for

  • Drop-shot rigs in shallow to moderate depth
  • Jerkbait presentations that mimic fleeing baitfish
  • Bass fishing in weedy areas or light cover

Skip if

  • You need swimbaits for deep trolling
  • You fish heavy wood and dense cover

Strengths

  • Split-tail design creates darting side-to-side motion
  • Realistic gills and 3D eyes attract bass attention
  • Flash foil belly adds visibility in murky water

Trade-offs

  • Soft plastic durability varies with hook style and fish
  • Split tail can tear on sharp cover easily
  • Small sizes require light line and finesse presentations

About this type

A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.

Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.

Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
