Quick take
A durable mechanical fish scale with stainless steel hook and aluminum housing that measures weight in pounds and kilograms.
This Rapala tube scale is a handheld mechanical suspension scale with a 25 lb weight limit, so it needs no batteries. A stainless steel hook and spring sit inside an anodized aluminum housing, and a marker slide holds the reading while you look. Pound and kilogram marks make it handy for weighing bass, walleye and panfish at the dock or on the boat.
Best for
- Weighing catch while fishing
- Tournament and regulated fishery situations requiring accurate records
- Anglers who value durability and reliability
Skip if
- You need digital readout for quick weight recording
- You fish for very large species requiring higher capacity
Strengths
- Mechanical design requires no batteries and never needs charging
- Stainless steel hook and spring resist corrosion from saltwater and freshwater
- Marker slide locks the peak weight for later reference
Trade-offs
- Mechanical dial is harder to read precisely in bright sunlight
- Aluminum tube can dent if the scale is dropped
- 25 lb capacity is limiting for large saltwater and catfish species
