Quick take

A 2.75-inch topwater popper with deep cup lip and internal rattle that creates loud pop and splash on every snap and tug.

Best for

  • Early morning topwater bite for bass and panfish
  • Fast-moving lure presentations
  • Anglers who want maximum splash and commotion

Skip if

  • You fish clear water with selective, cautious fish
  • You want subtle surface presentations

Strengths

  • Deep cupped lip creates explosive pop and splash
  • Internal long-cast mechanism delivers distance
  • Internal rattle adds sound attraction without weight

Trade-offs

  • Loud action works best in turbid water or low light
  • Cupped lip can tangle in vegetation
  • Heavy trebles may cause short lure life on rocky bottoms

About this type

A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.

Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.

Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
