Quick take
A 9-foot medium-fast graphite fly rod in 5 weight that handles trout, light bass and steelhead on a forgiving medium-fast action.
The Redington Path is a 9-foot, 5-weight graphite fly rod that breaks down into four pieces and travels in a divided tube case. Its medium-fast action is forgiving enough for delicate dry flies and still copes with nymphs and streamers, which suits newer fly anglers and trout and bass days alike. Alignment dots make setup quick at the water's edge.
Best for
- Trout fishing in streams and small rivers
- Light saltwater fly fishing
- Anglers wanting classic look and feel
Skip if
- You need a faster taper for distance casting
- You fish large rivers where a stiffer rod helps
Strengths
- Medium-fast action forgiving for beginners yet responsive
- Lightweight blank reduces fatigue on long casting days
- Classic wood reel seat and matching components
- Comes with tube case for easy travel
Trade-offs
- 5 weight limits use on larger pike or permit
- Medium-fast action not as responsive as faster tapers
