Quick take
Fast-action 5-weight fly rod with aluminum reel seat and cordura tube for fresh and saltwater fly fishing.
This is the 5-weight, 9-foot VICE from Redington, a four-piece fly rod with a fast action and a cork handle. It packs into a divided tube, so it travels easily to trout water. A 5-weight at this length suits anglers who want one rod for streams and small rivers.
Best for
- Trout and light saltwater species on 5-weight lines
- Dry fly and nymph fishing in streams
- Responsive rod for active casting techniques
Skip if
- You need a softer action for delicate presentations
- You plan to fish large saltwater species; this line weight is light
Strengths

- Machined aluminum reel seat withstands saltwater use
- 4-piece design allows compact transport
Trade-offs
