Quick take
A 220g flat-side ocean jig with MUSTAD hooks and Kevlar assist cord for fast vertical drops and deep-water jigging.
A two-pack of Striped White Glow flat-sided jigs, each 2.6 oz. The lighter weight suits vertical jigging at moderate depths, with snapper as the target. Having a spare in the pack helps when bottom structure claims one.
Best for
- Deep offshore jigging for snapper and bottom fish
- Fast vertical drops in strong currents
Skip if
- You fish shallow water or light tackle
- You need slower-falling lures for suspended fish
Strengths
- Heavy 220g weight allows deep and fast vertical presentations
- Flat-side design optimizes the jig profile for visibility
- Kevlar assist cord is durable in saltwater and resists chafing
Trade-offs
- At 7.8 oz requires heavy tackle and strong rod
- Flat-side design loses efficiency if not worked vertically
- Deep-water jigging has a learning curve for depth control and strike detection

About this type
A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.
Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
