Quick take

A floating pair of retractable ice picks designed to keep you safe if you break through thin ice.

A single pair of retractable ice awls with a stainless steel build and a bright yellow plastic case. The case floats, which makes it easy to spot if dropped in the water, and the set weighs about 0.17 kilograms. It suits ice anglers who want a compact self-rescue tool in a jacket pocket while walking or skating on ice.

Best for

Ice fishing on lakes you haven't skated on before
Winter anglers as basic emergency gear
Areas where ice conditions change rapidly

Skip if

You fish only thick, well-established ice
You prefer non-retractable picks for always-ready deployment

Strengths

Trade-offs
