Quick take
High-strength 100-percent fluorocarbon tippet in a three-spool pack for trout fly fishing and nymph work.
This three-spool set of 100% fluorocarbon tippet covers 4X, 5X and 6X, each spool holding 30 yards in a reusable clear cup. The 4X spool breaks at about 7.3 pounds, stepping down to roughly 3.8 pounds at 6X, which suits fine presentations to trout with dry flies, soft hackles and nymphs. It is a handy way to carry a full run of light tippet sizes for leader changes on the stream.
Best for
- Dry fly and soft hackle fishing
- Nymph presentations on clear water
- Trout streams and small rivers
Skip if
- You prefer monofilament for visibility on murky water
- You tie small nymphs that need very fine tippet
Strengths
- Ultra-strong fluorocarbon resists abrasion on rocks and debris
- High knot strength and easy knot seating with smooth finish
- High break-strength-to-diameter ratio for fine presentations
- Three 30-yard spools provide ample material for varied conditions

- Stiffer than monofilament, requiring a slower hand retrieve
- Requires spooling onto leader spools or bobbins for use
