Quick take
A 7-foot tapered sinking leader designed to convert floating fly lines to sink-tip presentations.
This is a 10 ft saltwater fly leader built around a 30 lb class tippet and an 80 lb fluorocarbon shock section. A heavy butt section helps it turn over flies in wind, and it loops onto the end of your fly line ready to tie on a fly. It suits anglers chasing tarpon and other big saltwater fish who want a leader ready to fish out of the package.
Best for
- Nymph fishing under floating fly lines
- Reaching mid-water structure and depth
- Trout fishing with wet flies
Skip if
- You fish primarily with sink-tip fly lines
- You prefer all-floating presentations
Strengths
- Tapered construction turns over flies on cast
- Sinking design gets flies to working depth quickly
- Instant sink without line changing
- Heavy butt section penetrates wind
Trade-offs
