Quick take
A large 3/4 oz topwater popper designed for aggressive bass fishing with splashing prop-blade action.
The River2Sea Whopper Plopper 110 is a 4 3/8 inch topwater prop bait that weighs 3/4 ounce and floats on the surface. It carries size 2 treble hooks and has no rattles, so it works as a quiet surface lure for shallow cover. The design was first made for muskie fishing and is also used for bass and panfish.
Best for
- Bass in shallow cover and weed lines
- Casting around docks and fallen timber
- Early morning and low-light topwater bite
Skip if
- You prefer silent lures
- You fish open water without cover
Strengths
- Large 3/4 oz weight casts far and lands hard to create splash and disturbance
- X-strong treble hooks stick in large bass mouths
- Prop blade creates noise and commotion to trigger aggressive strikes
Trade-offs
- Large size limits use to bass; too big for panfish and smaller species
- Requires aggressive, repeated popping strokes to generate action
- Treble hooks snag easily in dense vegetation
