Quick take

A 5 in walking topwater bait with internal rattles, designed for bass and pike on calm water.

The River2Sea Whopper Plopper 130 in Terminator is a 5-inch topwater popper that weighs 1 3/8 ounces. Its rear prop section makes a steady plopping sound and a bubble trail on the surface, and its rattles add extra noise. It comes with two size #2 treble hooks, and it can be worked with a steady retrieve or with pauses and rips.

Best for

  • Topwater walks in calm water
  • Bass and pike hunting surface bait
  • Low-light conditions

Skip if

  • You need a quiet topwater bait
  • You fish vegetation-heavy areas

Strengths

  • Walking action with a tight head-to-head sway attracts aggressive strikes
  • Internal rattles create vibration and sound to draw fish up
  • Heavy 1 3/8 oz weight casts far for a topwater

Trade-offs

  • Loud rattles can spook fish in clear water with high pressure
  • Large profile and weight make it less suitable for panfish
  • Walks require a specific cadence; inconsistent retrieves look unnatural
