Quick take
A 2 3/8 inch 1/4 oz topwater popper with a tough propeller tail that creates rumbling, multi-octave plopping.
The Whopper Plopper 60 is a small topwater prop bait, 2 3/8 inches long and a quarter ounce, for anglers who want surface action on bass. Its propeller tail spins on the retrieve and makes surface noise, and its deeper, wider body gives it a bluegill-like profile. It suits largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass when fish are feeding on smaller forage.
Best for
- Largemouth and smallmouth bass in shallow cover
- Topwater bite when fish are pressured and want smaller profiles
- Creating varied surface disturbance on every retrieve
Skip if
- You want a deep-diving lure; this stays on the surface
- You need long casting distance; light weight is limited
Strengths
- Propeller tail is durable and stands up to rocks and wood
- Creates distinctive rumbling and plopping unlike other poppers
- Smaller size matches downsized forage in pressured water
Trade-offs
- 1/4 oz weight limits casting distance on heavy line
- Topwater fishing requires calm to moderate water conditions
- Propeller tail can fold or bend from repeated casting

About this type
A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.
Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
