Quick take
A true rotary fly vise with dual-bearing design and hardened carbon steel jaws that hold hooks size #28 to 5/0 without slip.
Best for
- Tying balanced patterns where symmetry matters most
- Extended fly-tying sessions where smooth rotation reduces fatigue
- Tying both tiny midge patterns and large saltwater streamers
Skip if
- You tie primarily dry flies and rarely need rotation
- You have limited bench space and need a compact vise
Strengths
- Dual-bearing design keeps the hook shank perfectly on-axis during rotation
- Carbon steel jaws grip hooks firmly without deformation across entire size range
- Versatile bobbin cradle can function as a parachute tool
Trade-offs
- Table clamp requires solid mounting surface and takes bench space
- Initial setup and adjustment takes time compared to simple vises
- Higher skill level needed to use all features effectively
