Quick take
Hand-tied surf rigs with hi-lo double droppers and fluorescent beads, ready to fish with cut bait and pyramid weight.
This three-pack of Florida Red bead rigs gives surf anglers a hi-lo double-drop setup with 2/0 circle hooks on 30 lb mono. Each rig is hand-tied with a t-knot, and swivels at both ends help keep the dropper loops from tangling and limit line twist from the sinker. The bright beads sit above each hook as attractors for pompano, whiting, croaker and drum fished from the beach. Rinse the rigs with fresh water after each trip.
Best for
- Surf fishing for pompano, whiting and croaker along sandy beaches
- Anglers who want pre-rigged tackle to cast immediately
- Catching multiple species with cut mullet or mackerel
Skip if
- You fish rocky structures or jetties where double drops snag easily
- You prefer circle hooks in heavier line for large sharks or tarpon
Strengths
- Hand-tied construction with t-knots reduces tangling of dropper loops
- Swivels on both ends prevent line twist from sinker roll
- Fluorescent beads attract baitfish and small species throughout the water column
Trade-offs
- 30 lb mono is light for surf casting in strong currents or heavy wave action
- Double drop configuration tangles more easily in rocks or heavy weed
- Hand-tied construction means each rig may vary slightly in length
