Quick take

Plastic sinker slides with a barrel swivel that let line move freely while weight rests on the bottom, enabling bite detection.

This 1-inch black sinker slide is a small plastic sleeve that rides on the line, so a weight can slide freely and be swapped quickly. It pairs with a copper barrel swivel that rotates smoothly and fits a slip sinker rig, where bait sits on the bottom. Anglers who fish bottom rigs for bass, catfish or walleye in fresh or salt water will find it a simple way to set one up.

Best for

Bottom fishing rigs where weight stays down while line drifts above
Catfish and walleye fishing where sensitivity to bottom contact matters
Sliding rig setups that separate weight from the bait

Skip if

You prefer fixed weights on your main line
You fish in areas with excessive snags where slides get stuck

Strengths

Barrel swivel prevents line twist from sinker rolling in current
Plastic housing does not damage line as it slides
Allows weight to stay put while bait moves naturally in current

Trade-offs

Copper swivel can corrode in saltwater despite its durability
Slides can gather debris and stop moving if water is silty
Requiring a snap swivel adds complexity to rig setup

Fishing fit

Water: Freshwater
Saltwater
Techniques: Bottom fishing
Live bait
Surf fishing
