Quick take
A telescopic aluminum gaff that collapses to 11.4 inches and extends to 24 inches, with a stainless steel hook.
This compact telescopic gaff pairs an aluminum pole with a stainless steel spear-point hook and a nonslip rubber handle. It collapses to about 11 inches and extends to 24 inches, so it packs easily into a tackle bag or boat locker. A wrist lanyard helps keep it from going overboard, and at roughly 4 ounces it suits anglers who want a light tool for landing larger fish from a boat or pier.
Best for
- Saltwater fishing from a boat or pier
- Boating when tackle size matters
- Anglers handling larger fish with sharp teeth
Skip if
- You need a gaff longer than 24 inches
- You fish fresh water ponds or lakes
Strengths
- Compact when collapsed; fits tackle bags and boat rod holders
- Stainless steel hook resists saltwater corrosion
- Lightweight aluminum reduces arm fatigue when landing fish
Trade-offs
- Collapsed length of 11.4 inches still takes space
- Short reach limits use to boat or close-shore fishing
- Plastic handle connections can weaken over time
