Quick take

A 3D-scanned duck imitation with splashing action that triggers aggressive strikes from pike and bass.

This topwater duck imitation is a 4.25 inch hard bait in the Wood Duckling pattern, shaped from a 3D scan of a real duckling. It carries two feather-dressed treble hooks and several tie points for changing the swimming action. Bass anglers working open water or pads can pick it to put a splashing, duck-shaped profile on the surface.

Best for

  • Shallow water cover where large predators hunt ducklings
  • Dawn and dusk in lakes and reservoirs with pike or large bass
  • Areas with lily pads or emergent vegetation where predators ambush

Skip if

  • You need a lure that dives deep; this floats on top

Strengths

  • Dual smash tails and rotating feet create realistic duckling behavior
  • ABS body construction withstands hard strikes from large fish
  • Multiple tie points allow adjusting the action to suit conditions

Trade-offs

  • Large size and weight limit casting distance on light tackle
  • Dual trebles are prone to snagging in dense cover
  • Weight requires a heavier rod to cast comfortably for extended sessions
