Quick take
A 10m fly leader tippet in 0X with alternating green, white and orange segments every 10 inches for strike indication.
This 0X spool of tri-color sighter tippet runs 10 meters, with green, white and orange sections repeating every 10 inches along the line. It is made for Euro-style nymphing rigs, where the visible sighter helps an angler watch the drift, and a silicone band on the spool shields the tippet from sunlight. The nylon copolymer blend is built to take up less water, and this size is rated at 11 lb.
Best for
- Euro-style nymphing with small flies and high sensitivity
- Saltwater fly fishing where visibility of the sighter matters
- Anglers who need to detect takes on fine tippet
Skip if
- You fish topwater dry flies where a visible sighter spooks fish
- You prefer traditional tapered leaders without color segments
Strengths
- Colored segments in green, white and orange aid in seeing takes without adding strike indicators
- Copolymer blend provides 29% higher wet knot strength than previous Scientific Anglers materials
- Low memory keeps the leader straight after storage, aiding presentation
Trade-offs
- Visible colored segments may spook fish in clear water with selective feeding
- 0X breaking strength limits use to smaller fish and lighter tippet connections
- Requires matching intermediate sections to form a complete leader setup
